I was recently commissioned by Chanelle Pharma to photograph some corporate headshots to add to their company website. Part of the photography brief also included some environmental pr photography of senior management to accompany an editorial piece in The Irish Times. First on the list were the headshots which were photographed in the boardroom, quite a lovely boardroom but not an ideal space to setup a headshot studio. I managed to do some furniture removal or to be more specific furniture re-arranging. This allowed me a small compact space in the corner of the boardroom where I could also subtract all the ambient daylight. Within reason the key to successful headshot photography on location is to be adaptable. The location or time for that matter is not always on your side. This more often than not is always the case, so the key is to be organised and be prepared for the unexpected. Do not get flustered and remember that you are the professional and you were hired for a reason. The headshot session ran very smoothly with each person turning up at intervals of ten minutes, which allowed for a good selection of headshots for each employee of the company. The company headshots were all photographed on a grey background similar to the previous headshots that I had photographed for the company.
Following the headshots, it was time to approach the public relations photography shoot that was to accompany the editorial piece in The Irish Times. Images for this part of the shoot would also be used on marketing and promotional material as well as any internal company newsletters. This involved photographing Michael Burke founder and managing director along with two senior members of the management team. The key here, was to be fast and efficient and move from location to location with minimal fuss, making sure that you get the shots required. Prior to the senior management team arriving we had identified three external locations within the grounds of the company. Luckily the weather was on our side with a rich blue sky that complimented the main colour of Chanelle Pharma. The brief was to create impactful, colourful images that gave a strong message and I think this was achieved, the client was very happy with the images that were produced.
