During the summer Dillon Photography was commissioned by IMS Marketing – A LOCOMOTIVE Agency based in Oranmore, Co. Galway.
The brief was a series of corporate headshots and environmental portrait to accompany the announcement of Leonie Tansey as its new Managing Director. Leonie has also been appointed to the role of SVP of European Operations at IMS Marketing’s parent company, LOCOMOTIVE Agency.
Last year, Oranmore-based IMS Marketing was acquired by US digital marketing firm, LOCOMOTIVE Agency. The Galway company supports focused B2B businesses in Ireland and Europe to succeed with overseas expansion by providing them with market entry strategies which include integrated brand and digital marketing implementations.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable shoot as good time was put aside by both Leonie and Kevin Moran who is the founder of IMS Marketing. I previously had the pleasure of photographing Kevin when his company was sold to LOCOMOTIVE.
Both Leonie and Kevin understood the importance of good photography and were willing participants, they even told me I had all the time I needed. But being an experienced corporate headshot photographer I knew I need to work efficiently, but I did have the luxury of knowing that they were open to most if not all of my suggestions. This turned out to be the case.
I started the shoot in their open plan office photographing some business style headshots akin to what you would see on LinkedIn and other professional platforms. High key white backgrounds are often the norm but I tend to prefer a graduated grey background. In my opinion I feel it compliments most colour choices on clothing as well as skin tones. Whilst I always photograph in colour I do like to deliver black & white options as part of the final selection.
With the corporate headshots in the bag I set about capturing environmental headshots using the colours and graphics that adorned the walls of their office. These style of images were a nice contrast and were good choices for marketing and business magazines.
From photographic point of view in most cases it was a two light setup accompanied by reflectors for fill light where required.
After exhausting all the options inside, although their may have been more I wanted to get a selection of images outside. There was overcast cloud cover but the available light was some and forgiving and only required the minimal of fill light via an Octa box for an additional soft pop of light on the subject. Thus drawing the focus of the viewers eyes.
I was very happy with how the photoshoot turned out and so was the client.
A good day at the office.
